Leadership Q&A: Valerie Kinman

Valerie Kinman
Senior Director, Quality and Network Operations

What attracted you to VMS BioMarketing?
Clearly, I am a fan of the company since I have been here for over 17 years! What keeps me here is the team atmosphere and our mission. Whether we’re working on projects, spending time at our summer outing at Top Golf, or enjoying Winter Games on the back porch, we all work together. This team dynamic comes through in our passion for educating healthcare professionals and patients.

Why do you like what you do?
I am lucky since I get to wear many hats at VMS – ranging from compliance and privacy to process to data and reporting. Having a hand in all these branches helps me see several different sides of the work we do. I love working with clients and the clinical team members to create solutions that are efficient and compliant with the goal of making processes impactful for our programs.

As a very entrepreneurial company, VMS has the ability to be quick and nimble. There is never a morning when I walk into the office expecting the same thing. The challenge to continue innovating and not do things the way they have always been done drives me to search for the best outcomes. The culture at VMS allows me to roll up my sleeves and try new and different things that work best for a growing and changing market.

How do you “live” the VMS core values?
I hold our core values very close to me, both in my personal and professional growth. I believe our core values make VMS unique in the way we live them in all that the company does. These values do not simply sit in the background; they are pulled through in the work we do and in the competencies of our teams.

What do you want your legacy to be?
At the end of the day, I want people to believe that I am someone they can come to anytime for support, that I am trustworthy, and that I make the most of each day and make others laugh. Life is too short to not enjoy it.

What is a favorite book or film, and why?
I recently fell in love with the movie Same Kind of Different as Me. It is based on a true story about community service and being comfortable about being uncomfortable… all while helping someone in need. It is a very motivating movie and a reminder that helping others, even with the smallest things, makes a huge impact.
